Looking for an example of a great rhyming picture book? Check out Mrs. Biddlebox by
Linda Smith, illustrated by Marla Frazee. As I read, I was surprised the author and illustrator weren’t the same person. Linda Smith’s fun and unique rhyme about a woman who wakes up on the wrong side of the bed is perfectly complimented by the first dreary, then playful, colorful illustrations by
Marla Frazee. (Marla has a great article on picture books that can be accessed from the link.)

Great book. The illustrations really do their part in telling the story. I liked what Marla Frazee had to say about the reader controlling the pace of the book with page turns. Since I've started paying attention to the page turns in my stories, I've become more aware of the pacing of my stories.
